ARTIST | PAINTER | CURATOR | ADVISOR

Red Bull Art of Can is coming to Dallas this year 2010. We put together an Art of Can mixer a few weeks back to CREATE awareness about this event in hopes to build up excitement in the Dallas arts community. With all the excellent talent we have in this city....we were not amazed to see so many of our artists respond to this opportunity. I've posted a few of my favorites.....I can't wait to see which ones will be chosen... and to be a part of the actual event.
When I think of Live Draw...I think of a model or models surrounded by artists sketching, drawing or painting their interpretation of who sits before them. An artist would probably equip themselves with sketch pads or books of various sizes and an array of pencils, chalks, markers, paint brushes and paints. Live...not a lot of detail...within a time limit. You basically have to be a "Bad Ass" to show up to one of these things with a spool of wire and wire snips and take first place. His name is George Fowler.
I AM A SELF TAUGHT ARTIST, originally from Southern California, but raised in the inner city of Dallas. I am a philanthropist, creative advisor and arts advocate. I’m founder of FGIIIArt and creative advisor at RISING Gallery in Dallas, Tx.
AS A PAINTER, my style can be described as abstract constructivism. I utilize numerous elements in my work: canvas, metals, woods, paper, mixed media, and an array of industrial hardware. My work incorporates textures, strong lines, bold colors and a fine line collaboration between geometric shapes and circles of union, which precisely work together, to create my signature visual experience.
AS AN ADVISOR, creating and designing environments for residential and commercial spaces that implement my local art community are a passion and specialty of mine. I'm excellent at developing color pallets and at building concepts for large production events/exhibitions that require intricate installations. I'm currently working with several artists within the city of Dallas who firmly believe in the importance of supporting and unifying our arts, so as to stimulate awareness of how important this is to ALL communities.
I FIND INSPIRATION from legends, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Goya, Egon Shielle, Modigliani, Willem de Kooning, Richard Serra, Isamu Noguchi, Charles Eames and artists associated with Peggy Guggenheim’s abstract expressionist movement. But, most of my inspiration is found here, in Dallas, within my own art community. I personally enjoy living my life with the focus of continually evolving within ALL genres of creativity and the arts.
I BELIEVE, that as artists, we have the capabilities to innovatively resovle and tackle anything, in any aspect of life… IF WE WANT TO! This world is a big white canvas and it’s all about what WE make of it… It’s all out here for our creative taking.
